This May, I had the great pleasure of accompanying a deeply touching ceremony as a **wedding celebrant for a French-German couple in Germany** – held at the beautiful Q-Stall in Pulheim, near Cologne. The venue, a lovingly restored former grain barn, offers two separate event spaces and a charming inner courtyard – making it the ideal setting for two large weddings to take place at once, without losing its intimate and atmospheric feel.

An Erasmus Love That Stood the Test of Time

The couple – a French-German duo – first met over ten years ago during their Erasmus exchange program. Since then, they’ve shared not only their lives, but also a common language: English. Although rooted in both France and Germany, English has always been their way of connecting – a detail that also shaped their wedding ceremony in a beautiful and authentic way.

A Ceremony in Three Languages – and Straight from the Heart

The wedding ceremony was bilingual – held in both German and French – to make guests from both countries feel at home. But the most emotional moment came when the bride and groom read their personal vows to each other in English. Their words were so heartfelt and intimate that there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.

Another goosebump-worthy moment was when the groom’s mother spontaneously stepped forward to share a few touching words with the couple – a beautiful gesture of family closeness that added even more depth to the celebration.

Bubbles, “I’m a Believer,” and a Touch of French Art de Vivre

After the “I do’s” and the ring exchange, the couple danced their way out into the courtyard – surrounded by bubbles and the cheerful tune of *“I’m a Believer.”* The sun was shining brightly as champagne and a French-style apéritif awaited the guests. It was the perfect blend of elegance and ease – with laughter, good conversation, and that unmistakable French flair.

Off to Hawaii – and All the Best for the Journey Ahead

Soon after the wedding, the couple jetted off to paradise: their honeymoon destination was Hawaii! I wish them all the love and joy in the world as they begin this next chapter – filled with laughter, adventure, and countless small, beautiful moments in everyday life.
